A great restaurant needs a great cuisine. For that, Cohn and Kaiwi are thrilled to have handpicked born and raised Maui Chef Ryan Luckey. The Pineapple Grill will be the stage on which Chef Ryan will take his place as the rising star of new-generation Pacific Island Cuisine.
As Executive Chef of Pineapple Grill at Kapalua Resort, Luckey will be responsible for the award-winning Pacific Island Cuisine menu and overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen. He is responsible for lunch and dinner service as well as group functions and the hugely popular lounge and bar dining which has quickly become one of the best ways to experience Pineapple Grill at Kapalua Resort.
With Chef Ryan at the helm, Pineapple Grill at Kapalua will continue to provide Maui residents and visitors with a world-class dining experience - island style.
“What I’m most excited about is sharing the wonderful flavors, produce and other ingredients that are grown here on Maui and throughout Hawai`i,” says Luckey. “For residents and visitors alike, Pacific Island Cuisine created with only the best and most flavorful ingredients, always makes for a memorable meal.”
Guests can expect to see Chef Ryan working shoulder-to-shoulder “in the action zone” of his display kitchen. He also enjoys interacting with restaurant patrons and is often seen at guests’ tables, taking story, and sharing his passion for his culinary creations and how it all comes together. He says it’s his personal goal to ensure that all guests feel at home in the truest sense of aloha and welcome.

Luckey began his career in the food service industry as a line cook in 1995 and with his talent, passion and drive was promoted in the fine establishments of Jameson’s Grill & Bar and The Plantation House Restaurant, before becoming a Sous Chef at The Bay Club, the Sheraton Maui Resort and Tropica at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa. Mentored by seasoned chefs in the top restaurants of Maui’s west-side resorts, Luckey mastered the artistry of Pacific Island cuisine. With his hands-on experience and natural talent, Luckey has participated in all of West Maui’s major culinary events including the Kapalua Wine & Food Symposium, A Taste of Lahaina and Maui Chefs Presents.
